Artist Statement
I'm Raven Hamlin - a visual artist, writer, and storyteller currently studying Visual and Performing Arts at UT Dallas with a concentration in digital art and design. My creative practice is grounded in character design, storyboarding, and digital illustration, but it’s fueled by something deeper: a restless imagination and a need to bring my ideas to life, whether they emerge as a sketch, a short script, a haunting visual, or a fully realized video collaboration.
I’m drawn to dark atmospheres, emotional intensity, and eerie beauty — aesthetics shaped by my love for horror, gothic narratives, and cinematic surrealism. My work often explores characters caught between worlds, caught in moments of transformation or tension, rendered through stylized form and expressive detail.
In addition to visual work, I collaborate on short video concepts, creative writing, and animated sequences, crafting ideas that blur genre and medium. I’m comfortable working across tools like Aseprite, CLIP Studio Paint, Adobe Creative Suite, and beyond — always looking for ways to fuse illustration with narrative, mood, and movement. I’m not just telling stories — I’m building worlds.
Whether it's a single-panel drawing or a multimedia concept piece, I aim to leave the viewer with a lingering sense of emotion — wonder, fear, fascination, or all three at once. My goal is to evolve as a professional artist and storyteller, contributing to games, animation, and hybrid creative projects that dare to be different.
